The Honeymoon: Hello Paradise! Cozumel, Mexico

After surviving hurricane Alex, we arrived in Cozumel, Mexico! Oh my goodness! It was the definition of paradise! So amazing! I couldn't wait to get off the ship. Jason picked an excursion for us. We were going to go kayaking in a CLEAR kayak so that we could see through it to the coral reef below then go snorkling! SO FUN! Unfortunetely, due to the hurricane we didn't get to do the clear kayak part. It was too windy. BUT that's ok because we got to snorkel way longer.
We met the funniest couple on the excusrion. There were only 6 of us (inculding Jason and I) so we all got pretty close. Wess and Amber were awesome. As you can see from the picture above, Wess had a huge sense of humor.

We went to a Mexican national park called Chankanaab. It was absolutely beautiful. It translates to small sea.

There were giant lizards EVERYWHERE! They were cool to look at, but I was scared they were gonna attack me lol! Wild things attacking me seemed to be a common fear on the excursion...Literally everywhere we turned there was water! So tropical!

We got to see an actual crystal clear LAGOON! The water was so clear we could see straight to the bottom. Plus all the tropical fish too! SO AMAZING!

The beach was absolutely beautiful! Clear water and snow white sand! We spent most of our time snorkeling so we didn't get to spend much time on it, but I really wish we could have! I want to go back to Cozumel and spend a whole week!
The snorkeling was so fun! I was super nervous before hand though. I'd never been snorkeling before and I am so scarred of fish! So I had to get over that fear pretty quick. It took me a minute to get used to breathing through my mouth and having giant flippers on my feet, but I did eventually get the hang of it. Plus Jason stayed with me and held my hand the entire time! Aww! Best husband ever!
We saw tons of fish! It was scary at first cause they kept coming at me but I got used to that too and ended up not being so scarred towards the end. We got to see a yellow sting ray and a cute little sea horse! Our guide, Enrique, even caught a spider (it really does look like a spider) crab and let us hold it!
The reef was to die for! Kinda like on Finding Nemo! I've never seen anything like that in my life. I'm so happy that I got to share the experience with Jason.

The vegatation was to die for! I was snapping pictures left and right. Jason and I kept getting left behind because I was taking so many. Whoops!

After snorkeling, Enrique took us on a tour of the botanical gardens. Ancient sculptures were scattered thoughout the gardens. I almost died! I absloutely LOVE history, so I was definitely in my element.Oh look....more FISH! lol
There was an atual ruin in the gardens. It was called the Conch House, named after the counch shell at the top of it. It was so small! I'm still trying to figure out how people in there! We could actually walk on it. That was cool to have walked on something that natives built long ago!

There was a little village set up. It actually smelled like soot and there was really water in the well. That was basically awesome! It would be so crazy to live in a hut like that! Not much privacy, huh?

So we saw more sculptures and then........a GIANT ARCH! Way cool! We saw it on our way in but didn't stop. I was so sad, but then our guide promised we would come back. YESS!
Sadly, it was then time to head back to the ship. Jason and I did some shopping before we got back on board. We bought a MARACHA! I know that's not the way you spell it, but on our US customs form, we accidently spelled it wrong sooo now we like to make fun of our selves. Way to go Jason and Sarah! Anyway! It's handpainted red with some designs and was only $1! We couldn't pass up that deal. Plus we have a perfect spot for it on our book shelf!

That night we found a little friend waiting for us when we got back to our room! We couldn't decide if it was a pig or a dog. I say dog, Jason says pig. Sooo it's a pig/dog! I loved it! So CUTE! We left it on our desk because we didn't have the heart to take it apart....

More on our fun day at sea later! xoxo
